WASHINGTON-GREENE CLC LABOR DAY PICNIC RECAP
THANK YOU to all who came to show their union solidarity and support the Washington Greene Central Labor Council's annual Labor Day Picnic. An extra thanks to International Paper's Jim Hackney and Colt Kovatch for coming out to the pavilion early that morning to help set up! Labor Council President and USW Staff Rep Jim Watt led this event full of great food and even greater fellowship with our Brothers and Sisters from various other unions (UMWA, UFCW, AFSCME, SEIU, IBEW, CWA, PSEA and more). USW LOCAL 14693 ANNOUNCES CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS FOR NOVEMBER ELECTION
Candidate for Washington County District Attorney
Candidate for Washington County Prothonotary
Candidate for Mayor of the City of Washington
After a vote at our August membership meeting, we are pleased to announce our endorsement of three local candidates for the General Election this fall: Christina DeMarco-Breeden for Washington County District Attorney, Sandy Sabot for Prothonotary (which is the county court filing office), and Jojo Burgess for Mayor of the City of Washington. The candidates had an opportunity to address the members at this meeting, talk about the offices for which they are running, and take questions before consideration. We appreceiated their time and interest in reaching out to us, and to organizaed labor as a whole, and found each to be qualified, capable, and in tune with what Washington County working families are looking for in their leadership: less political bickering and incompetence, more doing the work that the position requires, and serving the people's needs. All three have also been endorsed by the Washington Greene Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, last month.
We encourage you to learn more about their respective campaigns at the links below, so you are well informed when casting your vote this November. For info on how to become a volunteer, please contact our office.
